A meeting with team owner Ed Snider seems to have done little to clear up questions about Peter Forsberg's future with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Forsberg, who will be an unrestricted free agent next season, met with Snider on the weekend to discuss the possibility of a new contract or a trade. The two are expected to meet again before the NHL's Feb. 27 trade deadline.

There's growing speculation the Flyers may trade Forsberg to a playoff contender over the next month rather than risk being left empty-handed if the Swedish star chooses to play elsewhere next season.

The Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks are reportedly two the teams with the keenest interest in the former NHL MVP.

So far, Forsberg has refused to publicly discuss details about the meeting with Snider or answer questions about where he wants to play. He also insists he's a happy Flyer.

"It's not like I wanted to leave. It's not like I wanted out of here," Forsberg said. "I like it here. It's not been my intention to leave, no."

Plagued by a sore foot and ankle, Forsberg has struggled to stay in the lineup this year. He's only played in 39 of the Flyers' 55 games and says he must get healthy before he can consider committing to the Flyers for next season and beyond.

"I've said 'I wanted to stay and I wanted to get my foot fixed and then I'll think about my future,' " Forsberg explained.

"That's all I've said all along. I didn't know because my foot didn't feel good enough and I didn't know how long I was going to play."

While Forsberg's play has improved in recent weeks — he's recorded 10 points in his last eight games — he says his foot isn't completely healed.

"I wish I knew right now. I wish I knew five months ago it was going to be OK," he said. "I think I need to play a little more to know it's going to be 100 per cent."
