With NHL teams jostling for playoff positioning, the Sedin twins are leading the post-season drive for the Vancouver Canucks.

The Swedish brothers, both coming off a career-high night, will try to help the Canucks take over first place in the ultra-competitive Northwest Division when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

Vancouver, second in the Northwest with 64 points, can leapfrog front-runners Calgary with a win. The Flames, in first place with 65 points, dropped a 3-2 shootout decision at home against the Blackhawks on Tuesday.

Hot on the trail of both Vancouver and Calgary are the Minnesota Wild, at third in the Northwest with 62 points, although the Flames have games in hand on the Canucks and Wild.

Vancouver is still riding an emotional high following an impressive 5-2 victory in Edmonton on Tuesday night sparked by the Sedins.

Daniel Sedin tallied three goals and set up two others — the first five-point game of his career — and Henrik Sedin added a career-high four assists.

"It was a big game, so it was nice to get some goals and contribute," Daniel Sedin said. "When the puck goes your way like that, it makes for a fun night.

"It has been an up and down season. The last little bit, we have been lucky to get some goals."

The win was especially sweet because it came on the road at the expense of a division rival. The Oilers are fifth in the Northwest with 56 points.

"Tonight we got back scoring," Henrik Sedin said. "It is good for the team. It was a huge win and to do that in their building was big for us."

The Sedins have paced the Canucks lately with consistent scoring.

Sedins going strong

Daniel Sedin, the Canucks' scoring leader with 23 goals and 55 points, is riding a five-game points streak with six goals and four assists.

Henrik Sedin has two goals and five assists in a three-game run. He leads Vancouver with 46 assists, and ranks second in scoring behind his brother with 53 points.

Vancouver has won six straight games against Chicago and has not lost to the Blackawks since March 19, 2004.

One player the Canucks will have to keep close tabs on Wednesday night is Chicago forward Martin Havlat.

Havlat scored twice in the final 2:43 of regulation and again in the shootout to rally the visiting Blackhawks past the Flames before a capacity crowd of 19,289 at Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome.

"We knew that, until the 60th minute, it is not over," Havlat said after the game. "Nobody was quitting until the last second and that's why we got the two points tonight."

The Canucks host the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday (CBC, 10 p.m. ET).
