Derek Roy scored and added two assists as Buffalo dumped the New York Rangers 4-2, but the Sabres and their fans watched star goalie Ryan Miller limp off early in the third.
Miller was hurt 1:54 into the period as he was trying to play the puck behind his net during a New York power play. With his back to the play, Miller was upended when Scott Gomez crashed into the goalie’s right leg, sending him tumbling into the boards.

Tests revealed there was no break in the left leg, but he suffered a high ankle sprain and will be out of the lineup indefinitely.
Miller didn't know how much time he would miss, saying he'll know more once the swelling subsides.
"There's really no timetable," Miller said. "It's really your comfort level. Right now, I want to get through the night and into the morning to see how my body reacts."
Miller was working on a shutout when he had to leave with the assistance of a trainer, replaced by Patrick Lalime.
Daniel Paille, Andrej Sekera and Jochen Hecht also scored for Buffalo (31-23-6). Florida improved to 30-21-8. The Sabres are tied with Florida and the New York Rangers for sixth in the East.
Markus Naslund and Nigel Dawes replied for New York (31-23-6). The Rangers have won just two of their last 11 games (2-7-2).
Panthers 2, Bruins 0
Tomas Vokoun recorded his third shutout in the last six games as the Florida Panthers skated to a 2-0 home victory over the Boston Bruins.
Vokoun made 41 saves in registering his sixth shutout of the season. Between Vokoun and backup Craig Anderson, Florida has an NHL-best nine shutouts.

Radek Dvorak scored both goals, exactly five minutes apart early in the third period. The clubs will meet again Tuesday in Boston.
The Bruins are in their first prolonged slump of the season, having won just once in their last six games (1-3-2).
Islanders 4, Devils 0
New Jersey couldn't beat Islanders goalie Yann Danis, missing out on an opportunity to gain on the Bruins.
Danis finished with 40 saves for his first shutout with New York. His only previous NHL shutout came with the Montreal Canadiens.
Sean Bergenheim, Kyle Okposo, Bill Guerin and Jon Sim scored for the home team. Mark Streit and Frans Nielsen each contributed two assists.
Scott Clemmensen finished with 38 saves for the Devils (38-19-3), who remain nine points back of Boston atop the East.
New Jersey has been shut out in two of its last three games.
New York (18-35-6) gained two points on Atlanta but is still last in the conference, six points behind the Thrashers.
