Sergei Kostitsyn is heading to Hamilton.
The Montreal Canadiens announced Sunday they have assigned the 22-year-old left-winger to the Hamilton Bulldogs, the team's American Hockey League affiliate.
Kostitsyn played in 56 games with the Canadiens last season, racking up eight goals, 15 assists and 64 penalty minutes.
Montreal still has 28 players on its roster and will open the regular NHL season on Thursday night in Toronto on Hockey Night in Canada (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 7 p.m. ET).
