The Ottawa Senators recalled forward Bobby Butler on Sunday from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Butler, a 23-year-old Massachusetts native, has scored 15 goals and tallied 23 points in 25 games this season with the Binghamton, N.Y., team.

He was recognized for his outstanding play by being named the AHL's rookie of the month for November.

Butler appeared in two games for Ottawa last season, his first in the NHL.

Prior to signing with Ottawa in March, Butler played four years at the University of New Hampshire and was a finalist for the 2010 Hobey Baker Award, given to the top U.S. men's college hockey player.
