The Nashville Predators signed first-round draft pick Jonathon Blum to an entry-level contract on Monday.

Blum, 18, was Nashville's first pick, 23rd overall, in the 2007 NHL draft.

He has nine goals and 39 points in 35 games with the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants this season.

The six-foot, 168-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., captured the Memorial Cup with the Giants last season.

He has also been named to the U.S. roster for theworld junior championships to be held later this month in the Czech Republic.
