Mike Peca, who missed 16 games because of injury last season, will miss a few more to suspension to start the 2008-09 NHL campaign.

The Columbus Blue Jackets centre will be sidelined indefinitely for making contact with an on-ice official in Friday's 5-4 overtime win over Dallas.

Peca, 34, was automatically suspended Saturday per Rule 41, Physical Abuse of Officials, Category 2.

He  was assessed a game misconduct penalty at 5:21 of the second period.

Peca, an alternate captain, has appealed but will remain suspended pending a hearing to be scheduled next week.
