CBCSports.ca: How did you get into hockey?
Weatherston: "My older brother played and I would always go watch. I got hooked on hockey at age 4. I would dress up in my older brother's gear and we would either play hockey in our driveway, or we would play mini-sticks in the hallways, which didn't go over well with our mom!"
CBCSports.ca: What was the first game you remember playing?
Weatherston: "My first real full ice hockey game. I showed up an hour early for skills and drills by mistake and the Tiny Tyke's team that was playing was short players so they asked me to play since I was already there. I was 4 and played with 5-7 year olds and cored my first ever goal!"
CBCSports.ca: Who was your funniest teammate, and why?
Weatherston: "Melissa Burrell, because she was the only other girl on my team, and she was a goalie too, which means she was a bit out there, but in a good way! We shared many good times together and have been best buds since we were 9 years old."
CBCSports.ca: Where was the most memorable tournament you ever played, and why?
Weatherston: "I would have to say the Olympics, if that counts as a tournament. But for minor league hockey, I had some great tournaments when I played boy's hockey at tournaments. Kapuskasing was probably one of the most fun and competitive tournaments during (age) 12-13 AA boy's hockey."
CBCSports.ca: Where was the worst arena you've ever played at? What was it like?
Weatherston: "I can't remember one specific arena..."
CBCSports.ca: Where was the coldest game of hockey you ever played?
Weatherston: "The coldest game of hockey I have ever played was on an outdoor rink in Thunder Bay. I had to wear the full balaclava under my helmet and mitts under my gloves!"
CBCSports.ca: Who is the most memorable hockey parent you ever met? Why?
Weatherston: "I met lots of good parents, and some crazy parents in minor hockey! No one sticks out in my mind."
