The 29-year-old netminder is from Montreal. He was nominated for three major awards in the 2006-07 season, the Hart, Lester B. Pearson, and Vezina trophies. He finished second in voting for all three. In 2007-08 he posted a 2.38 goals-against average in 73 games for the Vancouver Canucks.

CBCSports.ca: How did you get into hockey?

Luongo: "It was just a sport that I enjoyed watching on TV, and then I started playing street hockey. I just developed a passion for it."

CBCSports.ca: What was the first game you can remember playing?

Luongo: "I was eight years old, I was a novice playing forward, and I couldn't skate. I just remember I was on the ice, and couldn't skate."

CBCSports.ca: Who was your funniest teammate?

Luongo: "It was Trevor Linden, because he had an ironic sense of humour. But if I have to choose a new one, I think Kevin Bieksa because he always makes jokes and is making fun of guys."

CBCSports.ca: Where was the most memorable tournament you ever played?

Luongo: "I think it was in Finland, at the World Championships. I was the backup goalie, and then got thrown into the semifinal game. We won that, and then I got to play in the final, where we ended up winning in overtime."

CBCSports.ca: Where was the coldest game of hockey you ever played?

Luongo: "We had a tournament one year in midget AAA. It was at a ski resort in the mountains of France, and it was just really, really cold."
