Purpose: D get a handle on controlling the gap as forwards attack them 1-on-1 the length of the ice.

Purpose: D get a handle on controlling the gap as forwards attack them 1-on-1 the length of the ice.
- D line up at the blueline, forwards in the corner
- Pylons set up as seen above
- d1 skates backwards with a puck and pivots around the furthest pylon
- After d1 pivots he/she makes a pass to f1 in the corner
- d1 skates to the next pylon and pivots from forward to backwards to begin defending
- f1 skates up ice with the puck and d1 works to make sure there's enough distance between him/herself and f1
- d1 tries to keep f1 to the outside
- f1 must skate around the second pylon d1 pivoted around
- f1 must also skate around the faceoff dot in the offensive end before cutting to the net
- It is d1's job to keep f1 to the outside and ensure he/she doesn't get a shot on net
- This drill can be run from both ends at the same time.
