Goalie screen 2-on-1

Goalie screen 2-on-1

Purpose: Teaches defencemen to keep shots low and learn to play in 2-on-1 situations, while forwards work on screens, tips and capitalizing on offensive opportunities.

  • Forwards line up in both corners, D on blueline
  • F1 passes to D and drives to the net
  • D moves off the boards and takes a low shot on net, F1 screens, tips and jumps on any rebounds
  • D moves over to the other side of the ice and receives a pass from F2
  • F2 drives to the net, D takes a second shot
  • F1 and F2 screen, tip and jump on any rebounds
  • D begins skating backwards to prepare for the 2-on-1
  • F1 and F2 pick up either a rebound or loose puck and head down the ice for a 2-on-1
  • D works on gap control while F1 and F2 attempt to create a scoring opportunity.
