On Monday, one fan gave us his thoughts about the NHL owners being to blame for the current lockout, not commissioner Gary Bettman. Today, we get a view from a fan that thinks most people are overlooking who's really at fault: NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr.
With the NHL lockout now in double digits, CBCSports.ca wants to help give fans a voice.
So
until the game we love returns, we'll highlight one fan's take on the
lockout each day from the posts we've received on Facebook, Twitter and
the comments sections on CBCSports.ca.
Here's Tuesday's Fan Comment of the Day from CBCSports.ca user Royshroud:
"Many people are saying that Bettman has led the NHL into 3 work stoppages while being NHL commissioner but fail to note that Donald Fehr led player strikes in MLB in 1985 and 1994 as well as a lockout in 1990.
Fehr states often he is no sports fan so what is his motivation?
The guy simply loves the confrontation and the negotiating process. Why else would he refuse to open CBA negotiations until what 60 days before the CBA expired.
He wanted a lockout in no uncertain terms!
The NHL was ready to talk in November 2011 but Fehr was insistent on holding North America wide love-ins in order to gain 'consensus'. Wonder why?"
