1. Is it possible for someone with no NHL experience to become an NHL general manager? - Joshua Glen
Joshua, it's pretty much even between the managers if they've played in the NHL before becoming a part of management. Currently 16 of the managers did at some point play in the league and 14 never played a single game. Some of the best general managers in the history of the league never played a single game but what they all have in common is that they learned the game from the bottom up and became great students of the game.
2. What would be your ideal style of coach to take over the Montreal Canadiens? - J.P. Bonhomme
I'm assuming J.P. that you don't feel as though Randy Cunneyworth will be back behind their bench next season. If that is true I believe they will need a person who can both teach the younger players but also push the veterans to reach their potential once again. Players like Plekanec, Bourque and Kaberle need to have better seasons next year.
3. Heading into the playoffs, do you feel that there is a clear-cut favorite to win the Cup? - Zach Greenawalt
I really don't think there is a clear cut favourite, but the Pittsburgh Penguins have sure looked good the last few weeks. I also like the Rangers, the Blues and the Predators. Thanks Zach.
4. Is it still a rule that players must tie down their sweaters in case they fight? - Rod R
They don't have to be tied down, but if they were to get into a fight and have their jersey pulled over their head the player will be penalized.
5. Do you think that having a 2012 World Cup this coming September is something that would be embraced by current players in the league? - Dana Havens
Neither the current NHL players nor the NHL would embrace having a World Cup this September. The two sides have to work out a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) before that will happen again. The current CBA expires Sept. 15, but unlike 2004 when they were in a similar situation, this time there will not be a tournament in September.
