Blankety-blank-blank: Three goalies held their opponents off the scoresheet on Monday night: Jaroslav Halak vs. the Stars, Chris Mason vs. the Senators and Jimmy Howard vs. the Sabres.For the record: The Kings' Jonathan Quick leads the way with six shutouts this season. A huge task awaits if he's to challenge the all-time single season record of 22 held by George Hainsworth of the Montreal Canadiens, set in the 1928-29 season. NOTE: That record was also set in a mere 44 games.
On pace: Being the (near-)midway point of the season, doubling our current total gives us a guesstimated 170 on the year, close to last year's total of 179.
Jinxed: How many would there have been had obnoxious people around the world not said 'shutout,' ruining it for everyone? Unknown. But there may well have been one more last year (granted, it was in the 1st period) had Halak not done the Detroit Red Wings a favour:
Ah, well. You can't win 'em all.
