The NHL and the players' union meet on Tuesday for the first of four days of talks aimed at producing a collective bargaining agreement that will allow the 2012-13 season to start on time and eliminate the threat of a work stoppage.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman reiterated this past Thursday that the league would lock out players by Sept. 15 if no CBA was in place and the two sides remain far apart in what they find palatable as a 'fair' deal.
But after an entire season was wiped out in 2004-05, many believe the NHL could ill-afford another lost campaign, so the pressure is on to find an agreement that saves the season.
So with that in mind, what do you think? Will the puck drop on the NHL season as scheduled, or are we looking at a serious threat to games (and perhaps the entire season) being lost?
