Vote: Which NHL team is hurt most by goalie injuries?
Shortened season has many banged-up netminders
It was a bad Monday night for the masked men of the NHL.
The Maple Leafs' James Reimer went down in the second period against Philadelphia, while Jaroslav Halak didn't even make it into his game against the visiting Kings, saying no mas after warmups in St. Louis.
We don't want to say we told you so, but it seems the shortened season has been nothing but bad news for the health of goaltenders, with Halak and Reimer just the latest of 2013's casualties.
Until Mike Smith returned to active duty last week, Phoenix relied on the tandem of Chad Johnson (two NHL wins in eight career starts) and Jason LaBarbera while last year's team MVP was out nursing a lower-body injury.
Joining Halak and Reimer in the infirmary are the Ducks' Jonas Hiller (day-to-day with the a lower-body injury), and the Flames' Miikka Kirpusoff (sprained MCL).
Which of these teams do you believe is the hardest hit by their starter being sidelined?
