The Anaheim Ducks will put their four-game win streak on the line Thursday at Dallas without their second-leading scorer in the lineup.
Right-winger Corey Perry was suspended four games by the National Hockey League on Wednesday for a late, illegal check against fellow forward Jason Zucker of the Minnesota Wild.
The incident took place at 4:21 of the second period of Anaheim’s 2-1 victory on Tuesday night.
After Zucker dropped pass to a teammate, Perry nailed him with an elbow that sent the left-winger crashing into the corner boards. Zucker was sprawled on the ice for roughly five minutes before being helped off by trainers.
Perry was assessed a major penalty for interference and was ejected.
The 27-year-old native of Peterborough, Ont., has scored nine goals and 24 points in 25 games this season, second only to linemate Ryan Getzlaf (10 goals, 31 points).
Anaheim is second in the NHL’s Western Conference with a 19-3-3 record.
