Brayden Schenn scored the winner on Wednesday as the Adirondack Phantoms defeated the St. John's IceCaps 3-2 in the American Hockey League in Glen Falls, N.Y.

Schenn's 12th goal of the season came on an unassisted effort at 5:16 of the third period.

Eric Wellwood and Brandon Manning had the other goals for Adirondack (11-14-1), while Sean Couturier added two assists.

Scott Munroe made 23 saves to pick up the win.

Spencer Machacek and Zach Redmond had the goals for St. John's (13-15-1). Kael Mouillierat chipped in with two assists.

Eddie Pasquale allowed three goals on 34 shots in taking the loss.

Adirondack finished the night 1-for-6 on the power play, while St. John's was successful on 1-of-4 chances.

Monsters 4, Marlies 3 (OT)

David van der Gulik scored at 2:59 of overtime as the Lake Erie Monsters defeated the Toronto Marlies 4-3 in Cleveland. Van der Gulik also had three assists in regulation for the Monsters (13-13-2), who also got a goal and an assist from Tyson Barrie.

Brad Malone and Mike Sgarbossa also scored for Lake Erie. Sami Aittokallio stopped 14 shots to get the win.

Ryan Hamilton, Paul Ranger and Greg McKegg scored for Toronto (15-9-2), while Mike Kostka and Joe Colborne each had two assists.

Jussi Rynnas made 32 saves in taking the loss.

Toronto finished the night 1-for-4 on the power play, while Lake Erie was scoreless on five chances.

Wolves 1, Heat 0

Matt Climie made 27 saves as the Chicago Wolves shut out the Abbotsford Heat 1-0.

Darren Haydar scored the game's only goal at 10:02 of the first period, and Climie made the lead stand.

Heat goaltender Barry Brust was also impressive, stopping 34 of 35 shots.

Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.

Chicago improved to 13-9-3.

Abbotsford, which leads the North Division, fell to 15-6-6.
