Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith was named the NHL's first star of the week Monday after posting victories in four straight starts.
Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin was the second star, while St. Louis Blues left-winger David Perron took the third star.
Smith led the league with a 0.74 goals-against average and .975 save percentage to help the Coyotes move into sole possession of eighth place in the Western Conference.
Malkin recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in three games and had a plus-six rating.
Perron scored six goals and had a plus-five rating over four games.
