The New York Islanders announced on Wednesday. a four-year contract extension for Danish forward Frans Nielsen.
The move is reportedly worth $11 million US.
"We’re thrilled that Frans has committed to the Islanders for the next four years," club general manager Garth Snow said in a statement. "He has been a key part of our young core for the past six seasons and become one of the better two-way forwards in the league."
Nielsen is in his fourth full NHL season, with nine goals and 16 assists in 52 games this season.
The 27-year-old led the NHL in 2010-11 with seven short-handed goals, but has yet to score one this season.
