Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen was placed on injured reserve Sunday with a lower-body injury suffered early in Saturday's 3-0 loss against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Lehtonen went down about 5:30 into the opening period after Phoenix defenceman Derek Morris's slap shot caught him just above the goalie pad. The play was called for an offside, but Morris' shot came just before the whistle sounded.

Lehtonen was helped off the ice, went to the locker-room and did not return.

Coming into the game, Lehtonen had a 1.98 goal-against average in seven road games. In 18 overall games, Lehtonen has a 13-4-1 record with a 2.35 goals-against average.

To replace Lehtonen on their roster, the Stars recalled goaltender Richard Bachman as well as forward Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League.
