Vancouver Canucks centre Ryan Kesler will be sidelined for "at least a couple of weeks" with a sprained knee, coach John Tortorella announced on Friday.

Kesler suffered the injury in the second period of Wednesday's game in Winnipeg when he collided knee-on-knee with Jets centre Jim Slater.

The 29-year-old veteran flew back to Vancouver for tests while the Canucks continued their road trip, which takes them to Washington to face the Capitals on Friday night.

Forward Alex Burrows said more pressure will be on Kesler's teammates to pick up the slack in his absence.
