Red Wings' Pulkkinen suspended 4 games for illegal hit
Lightning's Erne also suspended for illegal check to head
Detroit Red Wings forward Teemu Pulkkinen has been suspended four pre-season games by the NHL after boarding Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Michael Kostka on Tuesday.
Kostka left the game after the incident during the first period and did not return to the ice.
Pulkkinen was given a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding was assessed on the play.
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Adam Erne also received a suspension.
Erne has been suspended for three pre-season games after an illegal hit to the head of St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka in a game on Wednesday in Orlando.
A minor penalty for illegal check to the head was assessed on the play.
