Defenceman leaves game and does not return

Nashville Predators defenceman leaves the game after being hit in the face by a puck. 1:35

Six-foot-four defenceman Seth Jones may wish he was several inches shorter after he took a puck to the face on Saturday night.

With seconds left in the first period, the Nashville Predators blue-liner was in front of his own net when Montreal Canadiens defender Andrei Markov teed up a blast from just above the circle. The shot ricocheted off a leg in front and nailed Jones just below his visor.

It appeared as though the area around his eye was bleeding. He was down for several moments, left the game and did not return.
