Leafs send trio of forwards to minors

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that three forwards have been reassigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that three forwards have been reassigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Carter Ashton, David Broll and Trevor Smith will report to the Marlies in time for their game Sunday afternoon versus the Hamilton Bulldogs at Ricoh Coliseum.

Smith scored one goal in three games with the Leafs this season. Ashton had one assist and five penalty minutes through seven games, and Broll racked up an assist and five penalty minutes through five games.

Ahston scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday. Broll and Smith also played.
