The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that forward Nazem Kadri has been assigned to their American Hockey League affiliate.

Kadri, 21, will try and work his way back into game shape with the Toronto Marlies after injuring his knee during the pre-season.

The London, Ont., native split time between the Marlies and Leafs last season, scoring three goals and nine assists in 29 games in the NHL, with a minus-8 rating.

He was selected by Toronto seventh overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
