Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray says he hasn't offered captain Jason Spezza a new contract and he's not prepared to do so at the moment.
The 30-year-old Spezza has a no-trade clause and one year left on his current deal.
He had 66 points over 75 games in his first season as team captain.
Murray held a season-ending availability Tuesday after his team finished in a tie for 10th place in the NHL’s Eastern Conference standings.
He also says the Senators need another big forward who can play a "harder game" for the team.
Murray added careless plays and turnovers were a problem this past season and led to a high goals against total.
