Islanders' John Tavares tops NHL's 3 stars
Scored league-best 5 goals in 3 games
Forwards John Tavares of the New York Islanders, Jiri Tlusty of the Carolina Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks goalie Viktor Fasth were named the NHL's three stars of the week Monday.
Tavares was the first star with seven points — including a league-high five goals — in three games. He scored a hat trick and added an assist in the Islanders' 5-1 victory over New Jersey on Saturday.
Fasth was the second star after winning all three of his starts. The 30-year-old native of Sweden posted a 1.89 goals-against average and .935 save percentage.
Tlusty received the third star after recording four goals and two assists in helping Carolina win three straight games.
