The Buffalo Sabres are getting closer to choosing a new general manager.

In the latest segment of Hotstove Tonight on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday, the crew discussed the shrinking list of candidates for the Sabres' GM position, including front-runner Jim Benning.

Commentators Elliotte Friedman and Glenn Healy also gave updates on the Edmonton Oilers potentially trading Sam Gagner and talks between Michael Del Zotto and the New York Rangers.

Healy also broke down the record-setting numbers generated by the 2014 Winter Classic on New Year's Day.
