Five players from last year's championship team will return to represent Canada at the 2013 IIHF under-18 women's world championship.

Forwards Ashley Brykaliuk, Kristyn Capizzano, Emily Clark, Catherine Dubois and defenceman Halli Krzyzaniak were named to the 22-player roster Friday, Hockey Canada announced in a release.

The Canadian team will include two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 13 forwards. Jim Fetter returns as head coach while Rebecca Russell and Laura Schuler are back as assistant coaches.

"This season's national women's under-18 team has depth and diversity of skill, as well as the determination it will take to go for gold," Fetter said. "We're extremely excited to see these carefully selected players come together off and on the ice to represent Canada with passion and pride."

The Dec. 29-Jan. 5 tournament will be played in Heinola and Vierumaki, Finland. Canada will open against Hungary.

Canada defeated the United States 3-0 to win gold at the 2012 event in the Czech Republic.
