Jean-Sebastien Giguere loves a challenge.
Colorado's backup goalie chatted with hosts Rob Pizzo and Craig Simpson on Hockey Night in Canada Radio on SiriusXM on Tuesday about his contributions to the Avalanche's hot start (8-1-0).
Giguere turned away all 34 shots by the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins Monday night, posting his second shutout in three starts this season. He stopped 39 shots in Anaheim's 2-0 win over Boston two weeks ago.
The 36-year-old said keeping busy in the crease helps him stay focused.
"Especially as a backup, when you don't get to play that often, those are tough nights but those are fun nights, too," he said. "That's what you work out for every day."
