The Columbus Blue Jackets are sitting in a playoff position in the NHL’s Eastern Conference with three games remaining in the regular season.

Only two points separate the eighth-place Blue Jackets and No. 6 Philadelphia, with Detroit, just one point ahead of Columbus, in seventh spot. All three teams have played 79 games.

Prior to the Blue Jackets’ 4-3 overtime win over Phoenix on Tuesday, their general manager Jarmo Kekalainen was a guest on Hockey Night in Canada Radio on SiriusXM with hosts Rob Pizzo and Craig Simpson.

In a wide-ranging interview, Kekalainen discussed the team’s ability to rise to the challenge late in the season and bounce back from poor performances.

He also marvelled at the preparation of Columbus starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky and emergence of third-year centre Ryan Johansen, the Blue Jackets’ leading scorer this season.
