The Detroit Red Wings are now without their top two scorers.

Henrik Zetterberg has joined fellow forward Pavel Datsyuk on the sideline, knocked out of the lineup for at least two weeks with a small herniated disc, according to general manager Ken Holland.

The 33-year-old captain has played in all 28 games this season, topping Detroit with 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists. He missed time in 2007 and 2008 with back problems.

Datsyuk had 12 goals and 23 points in 24 games before missing the past four outings with concussion symptoms. There is no timetable for his return.

If there is anything positive from the Red Wings’ latest news it has to do with the schedule. Following Wednesday’s game against Philadelphia, Detroit plays back-to-back contests against lesser-lights New Jersey and Florida.

The Red Wings’ next game against an elite opponent is Dec. 14 versus Pittsburgh.
