Flyers' Harry Zolnierczyk suspended 4 games for charging
Incident occured in Saturday's game vs. Senators
A hit on Senators' defenceman Mike Lundin will cost the Philadelphia Flyers' Harry Zolnierczyk a four-game suspension.
The punishment was announced by the league's department of player safety on Sunday afternoon follwoing ahearing with Zolnierczyk.
The Flyers' defenceman was assessed a major penalty for charging 9:13 into the first period in his team's 2-1 win over Ottawa on Saturday.
Video replays of the hit show that Zolnierczyk left his feet to deliver the hit to Lundin.
The Senators' defenceman left the game and did not return.
Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said after the game that Lundin had suffered a concussion.
Zolniercyzk will forfeit $12,972.96 US in salary, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
