Did You See That? Phaneuf's dangerous hit draws NHL hearing
Maple Leafs defenceman nailed Bruins' Miller into boards from behind
Dion Phaneuf has never been suspended in his NHL career, but a hearing with the league's department of player safety is threatening to wipe away his clean disciplinary history.
The Toronto Maple Leafs captain will have to answer to head disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan and Co. for a dangerous hit from behind into the boards on Boston Bruins forward Kevan Miller. The infraction occurred late in the third period of Toronto's 5-2 loss on Sunday night.
The blue-liner wasn't penalized on the play but Miller was visibly shaken, looking woozy as he struggled to get back to his feet behind the Boston net. He would leave the game shortly after, while Phaneuf wasn't penalized on the play.
Phaneuf's hearing will reportedly be on Tuesday.
