Jets forward levels Stars defenceman along boards

Winnipeg Jets forward is ejected from the game for this hit on Alex Gologoski. 1:53

Alex Goligoski skated off the ice under his own power Saturday afternoon, a towel pressed against his face to stop the bleeding.

The Dallas Stars defenceman had just been levelled with a dangerous hit by Anthony Peluso of the Winnipeg Jets.

Goligoski was playing the puck along the boards when Peluso swooped in and nailed him with what appeared to be a high hit with less than five minutes to go in the second period of Winnipeg's 6-4 loss.

Goligoski would later return to the game, and Peluso received a five-minute boarding major and a game misconduct for his actions.

The hit has drawn a phone hearing with the NHL on Sunday, which means the maximum potential punishment could be up to five games.
