Neither defenceman Bryce Salvador nor right-winger Jamie Langenbrunner will be in the New Jersey Devils lineup for Thursday night's Game 5 contest against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.
Langenbrunner will miss his third straight game with a lower body injury, although coach Brent Sutter said Thursday morning he might be able to play at some point in the series.
"There's always that possibility," Sutter said. "He's status quo, day-to-day, right now. He's definitely not playing tonight."
Salvador hurt his left knee during Game 4 in Raleigh, N.C., and is unable to skate. That means Andy Greene will step in.
"I'm excited. Very excited," Greene said. "This is the best time of year."
Greene will be paired with Niclas Havelid. Sutter said it was because the two have played well together in the past.
"I just want him to come in and be himself," Sutter said. "Whenever he's come in and played, he's done very well."
Sutter confident with Rolston
When Langenbrunner was injured during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarter-final, Brian Rolston was moved into his spot at right wing on the Devils' top line with Zach Parise and Travis Zajac — and the coach said the move has been OK.
"He's played fine," coach Brent Sutter said Thursday after the morning skate.
"I thought the first game he played extremely well and the last game he played somewhat like a lot of guys. Their level of play dropped off. We need their level of play back up to where it needs to be."
