The sputtering Montreal Canadiens played host to the Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night, and the Bell Centre looked a little less lively than usual.
After starting the season on a tear that put them atop the NHL, the Habs ran into trouble when Carey Price, who had already missed time early in the season with a lower-body injury, re-aggravated it in a Nov. 25 game.
He hasn't played since, and during that time Montreal is 7-20-2 (after Wednesday's loss to Buffalo), dropping them to 12th in the East, well out of a playoff spot.
And now, some fans aren't coming to the rink to show their support. The last time they played at home, the Canadiens lost 5-2 to the league-worst Columbus Blue Jackets. The night before, they lost in Columbus by the exact same score.
Here are some of the best tweets surrounding Wednesday's game in Montreal, where "Bell Centre" started trending in Canada:

Buffalo opened the scoring on its first shot on net, and led 1-0 entering the second period. But Montreal started the next period with boatloads of energy, taking a 2-1 lead.
Unfortunately for the fans in attendance, Buffalo scored three unanswered goals in the third en route to a 4-2 win.
