WINDSOR, Ontario (AP) Detroit Red Wings forward Dan Cleary help put together a hockey game that gave three players - Kevin Westgarth, Shawn Horcoff and Jamal Mayers - a chance to get more comfortable than they were earlier in the week.
They were in a Canadian rink Saturday night, two days after being in a New York hotel where labor talks fell apart. Mayers, Horcoff and Westgarth say progress was made before the NHL decided to stop negotiating.
Westgarth of the Los Angeles Kings says he is happy to be involved, but he would rather be on the ice. Horcoff, an Edmonton forward, believes the two sides have about a month left to save the season. Mayers, a Chicago Blackhawks forward, says he hopes owners realize how close they are to reaching a deal.
