Each week, Hockey Night in Canada's Scott Morrison breaks down the balance of power in the National Hockey League. Here are this week's top six teams, bottom six teams and Canadian rankings.

Top 6

1. VANCOUVER CANUCKS
Record: 29-10-6 (64 pts)
Last 10 games: 7-2-1

Have been shutout twice in the past three games. Perhaps hitting a bit of a wall on the road. Injuries starting to build on the back end.
2. PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
Record: 29-11-5 (63 pts)
Last 10 games: 7-3-0

Continue to roll along and Chris Pronger is getting closer to returning to the lineup.
3. DETROIT RED WINGS
Record: 28-11-6 (62 pts)
Last 10 games: 6-2-2

Talk about a team hit by the injury bug. They lost Osgood, Howard and Holmstrom in the past week.
4. DALLAS STARS
Record: 27-13-5 (59 pts)
Last 10 games: 6-3-1

It appears this team is the real deal after all, far ahead of schedule. Great job by Marc Crawford.
5. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Record: 28-14-4 (56 pts)
Last 10 games: 4-4-2

It looks like they will be without Sidney Crosby for a while. They need Evegni Malkin to step up the way Crosby did when he was hurt.
6. BOSTON BRUINS
Record: 25-13-7 (57 pts)
Last 10 games: 5-2-3

Thomas has seven shutouts. Patrice Bergeron was a star of the week and Chara had a hat trick against the Hurricanes.

Bottom 6

25. BUFFALO SABRES
Record: 19-20-5 (43 pts)
Last 10 games: 4-4-2

Looks like they may have a new owner soon and many fear a house cleaning.
26. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS
Record: 18-21-5 (41 pts)
Last 10 games: 5-4-1

Had a good road trip and a lemon against the Flames. Wonder if they will bring Reimer back?
27. NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Record: 14-23-7 (35 pts)
Last 10 games: 5-4-1

They’ve played better since they moved out some bodies. Curious.
28. OTTAWA SENATORS
Record: 17-23-6 (40 pts)
Last 10 games: 2-6-2

Too many key injuries, too many disappointing individual seasons.
29. NEW JERSEY DEVILS
Record: 13-29-3 (29 pts)
Last 10 games: 4-5-1

Starting to show some signs of life. Brodeur is slowly finding his game.
30. EDMONTON OILERS
Record: 14-23-7 (35 pts)
Last 10 games: 2-7-1

As good, or bad, at home and on the road. Just be patient Oilers fans.

Canadian 6

1. VANCOUVER CANUCKS
Record: 29-10-6 (64 pts)
Last 10 games: 7-2-1

Chris Tanev expected to make his NHL debut, paired with Keith Ballard.
2. MONTREAL CANADIENS
Record: 25-17-3 (53 pts)
Last 10 games: 5-4-1

Are finding a way to get it done despite key injuries on defence.
3. CALGARY FLAMES
Record: 20-20-5 (45 pts)
Last 10 games: 6-2-2

The club has to decide whether to tinker or is it time to rebuild?
4. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS
Record: 18-21-5 (41 pts)
Last 10 games: 5-4-1

Burke says he won’t be moving bodies for draft picks.
5. OTTAWA SENATORS
Record: 17-23-6 (40 pts)
Last 10 games: 2-6-2

It makes no sense to fire Cory Clouston, they aren’t a coaching change away from major improvement.
6. EDMONTON OILERS
Record: 14-23-7 (35 pts)
Last 10 games: 2-7-1

Hall better keep his head up, got rocked by Doughty on the weekend.
