Matt Shaw has been named assistant coach of the San Jose Sharks, reuniting him with head coach Todd McLellan.

Shaw, who spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Wild and served as an assistant coach for the 2008-09 season, was assistant to McLellan from 2001-05 with the AHL's Houston Aeros.

McLellan was a finalist for the Adams Trophy in his first season with the Sharks.

Shaw, who joins Trent Yawney and Jay Woodcroft on McLellan's staff, replaces Todd Richards, who left he Sharks last month to become head coach of the Wild.
