Hello, Canada...

Well, welcome to it.

“Upon Further Review”.

Ya like?

I’m Jeff Marek, the new host of Hockey Night in Canada Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 122. We launch the show Monday and air Monday to Friday 4-6 p.m. ET (there’s a repeat immediately following the initial airing).

We’ll be using this blog for feedback on the show, to discuss all hockey issues - not just in the NHL, but across the globe - and to just hang out and talk puck. Hope you make this a daily stop a couple times a day as you surf.

I’ll have all of our show topics, guests and issues listed on here daily, but even if you can’t listen to the show I’ll always post the news stories of the day with my comments added to them and will of course be looking for your feedback (and not just so I can ape your opinions on the show, either…but I might).

I’m really looking forward to getting the show started Monday. Speaking of which, we’ll have Hockey Night in Canada host Ron Maclean in for the full two hours along with Kelly Hrudey from “Behind the Mask” to kick off the first show.

We’ll be spending a lot of time discussing the pair of Ducks/Kings games in London. Tune in to find out why this came together, who is benefiting the most, who is putting the most on the line, what the players REALLY think about opening the season overseas, and if the NHL has serious plans for expansion into Europe.

We’ll also begin our season preview and have a look around the Eastern Conference, which should be a little more interesting this year after some playoff teams took a step back (Buffalo, New Jersey), some non-playoff teams took big strides forward (Philadelphia, Washington, Florida), some playoff teams re-loaded (New York Rangers) and some teams improved by not doing much (Ottawa, Pittsburgh). This conference should be a tight one right up to the final game of the season.

Also, controversial Calgary Flames head coach Mike Keenan joins the show to talk about his team, who many are saying will challenge for the Stanley Cup.

Hope you can tune in Monday.

I’ll be back after the weekend with hockey news, my thoughts on the London games and a preview of the maiden voyage of Hockey Night in Canada Radio.

Have a great weekend.

Hello Mr. Merek,

I love the show and listen at drive time every day down here in New England on Ch. 122. My question is: do you feel the Jonathan Roy suspension was worthy of his actions? Keep up the good work. On a personal note, as an old time hockey fan I look forward to the day that the NHL re-locates teams to QUE, HFD & WPG. Thanks! Say "Hi" to Mr. Hrudey! PSS, Get Chuck Kaiton on the show more often- his insights are amazing. Cheers!

Hi Jeff,
Great Show!!! I was a loyal listener to DriveThis HardCore Sports Radio 186 until your program came along, and now finally I am getting the hockey talk and interviews that I want and need from your show. Quick question: Will you be having a phone in segment on your show? Keep up the good work and great interviews.

My mid-day and afternoon AM radio listening has been brief and unsatisfying since your departure from my number one AM slot holder. Your being with Sirius is as good a reason as any I have ever had to pay for radio...another week of depressed AM interludes may have me doing more inquiries. You have grown on me over the years. Good luck to you. You do your homework and will be a benefit to any broadcast.

Hey Jeff, sorry to see you go, I can't listen to Waters the name dropper at all. I really miss Stafford and find him to be the best there is on Radio bar none. I hope he gets the slot back, though I'm not holding my breath.

Hey Jeff!
Congrats on the new program!
I am definitely going to miss you on Leaf's Lunch. You and Bill seemed to be a great pair and I hope you got along just as well off the air as you did on the air.
I've been listening to you for years and you really grew to be a fantastic broadcaster. I hope this new job gives you the chance to grow even more
