The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed restricted free agent forward Matt Stajan to a two-year, $3.5-million US contract.

Stajan, 24, posted a career-high 16 goals and added 17 assists with 47 penalty minutes with Toronto last season and was one of only three players to skate in all 82 regular-season games. Forward Jason Blake and defenceman Tomas Kaberle were the other two.

In 314 NHL games, the native of Mississauga, Ont., has 56 goals and 71 assists (127 points).

He was selected 57th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2002 NHL entry draft.
