Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jyrki Lumme added to his team's troubles on the blue line, receiving a two-game suspension for crosschecking Buffalo Sabres forward J.P. Dumont on Saturday night.
Lumme, who will lose $44,716.78 US in salary, was given a two-minute penalty when he checked Dumont from behind after a whistle was blown in the third period.
Lumme, who has two goals and two assists in 29 games with Toronto, will miss games against Washington and Detroit before being eligible to return Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
The Leafs recalled Karel Pilar from their St. John's AHL affiliate to fill in the void. He has 24 points in 52 games with St. John's this season.
