The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without the services of defenceman Mike Komisarek for the next three weeks.

For the second straight day, Komisarek wasn't on the ice, and after practice, the Leafs made the announcement the big defenceman will continue to be sidelined with a small quadriceps tear.

The 27-year-old was injured in a collision with Todd Bertuzzi during Saturday's win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Toronto has called up defenceman Carl Gunnarsson from the AHL's Marlies as a replacement.

Komisarek signed a $22.5 million US, five-year deal with the Leafs in the off-season after spending four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens.
