When you work hard, good things happen -- it also doesn't hurt to have a Canadiens great in your corner.
Such is the case with Montreal's David Desharnais. On the recommendation of Habs legend Guy Carbonneau, who was his coach while he was with the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Desharnais got a tryout with the Canadiens in 2007.
He signed an ECHL contract with Cincinatti and then worked his way up to Hamilton in the AHL, finally landing with the big club in 2009-10, playing six games.
This season so far Desharnais has played in 19 games for the Habs and has five goals and seven assists.
