CBCSports.ca senior reporter Tim Wharnsby names the top performers in the NHL from Monday night.

FIRST STAR: Tomas Kaberle, Toronto

The Leafs defenceman scored a goal and added four assists in Toronto's first win of the season, a 6-3 decision in Anaheim. The five-point game vaulted Kaberle to the top of the Leafs scoring race with 10 points.

SECOND STAR: Marian Gaborik, New York Rangers

Gaborik's stint on Broadway continues to produce positive reviews. Another two-goal, one-assist performance, this time in the Rangers' 5-2 victory against Phoenix, pushed his season totals to 10 goals and 18 points in 12 games. That's only three goals and five points shy of the numbers he put up in his abbreviated 17-game season last year.

THIRD STAR: Roman Hamrlik, Montreal

Hamrlik and defence partner Jaroslav Spacek shut down the Islanders' top line of John Tavares, Matt Moulson and Kyle Okposo, and Hamrlik jumped into the play to convert a Tomas Plekanec pass for the overtime winner.
