Goalie coach Chris Terreri looks sharp enough to play

Devils coach Brent Sutter said he would not make any lineup changes for Tuesday night's fourth game against the Carolina Hurricanes, but he might want to consider changing goalies.

During Tuesday's morning skate in which the entire team participated, a rarity for the Devils, Martin Brodeur deflected a shot to his left. Chris Terreri was standing in the circle and had to stop the puck with the shaft of his stick.

"He made a great save there," Sutter said of Terreri. "He'd be in the hospital getting a hernia operation if he didn't make that save."

Brodeur almost fell down laughing. He and Terreri are former road roommates.

In another Devils goalie matter, Kevin Weekes is no closer to being able to skate since suffering a left knee injury April 3. Weekes was supposed to miss 2-3 weeks, but GM Lou Lamoriello said he is unable to skate and it out indefinitely.

Scott Clemmensen will remain Brodeur's backup.

SEIDENBERG LIKELY TO RETURN TO HURRICANES' LINEUP

Dennis Seidenberg only smiled and coach Paul Maurice was mum on the subject, but it appears certain that the defenseman will be back in the Carolina lineup for Game 4 against the Devils.

Seidenberg played Game 1 in New Jersey, but was a healthy scratch the last two games.

"We just wanted a little different puck movement," Maurice explained.

And how did Seidenberg deal with being scratched?

"Like a man," Maurice said.

The Hurricanes had a morning skate, Matt Cullen did not participate.

Although Eric Staal said Monday that Game 4 isn't do or die for the Hurricanes, several of his teammates obviously feel differently.

"It's a very pivotal game, we know. Going down 3-1 is tough. We'll approach it as a do or die situation," Rod Brind'Amour said.

Goalie Cam Ward said the first period will be important for the Hurricanes.

"It's huge," he said. "You want to come out fired up and be in control of your emotions. As far as I know we haven't had a lead yet in regulation. It'd be nice to be able to score that first goal."

And if the Devils score first?

"It plays right into their hands," Seidenberg said. "We've got to try to make them open up."
