Pittsburgh - They sat anonymously in a corner of the Mellon Arena this morning. Six members of Marc-Andre Fleury's family and a friend are in Pittsburgh. They're here to support him and cheer him on as he tries to win the Stanley Cup.

Last week Fleury's father, Andre Fleury drove 10 hours from his hometown of Sorel, Quebec, about 65 kilometres north east of Montreal, to watch his son.

"This is like a dream come true," he said. "It's incredible."

Marc-Andre's sister Marylene has been in Pittsburgh for a month. The Penguins gave her an internship with the team's marketing division. She says her brother's success has been "fantastic."

Fleury was featured on TV sportscasts all over North America at the beginning of this series after he tripped and fell flat on the ice at the Joe Louis Arena during the player introductions.

Embarrassing stumble

Red Wing fans thought it was hilarious. But after making 55 saves to save the Penguins' bacon in triple overtime on Monday, it's Fleury who is laughing now.

"Game 1, he falls. That happens to anyone else, they're embarrassed. Not Marc-Andre. He's an easy-going guy. He laughs at himself," said Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby.

Fleury was surrounded by the media in the Penguins' dressing room after practice today. Some have suggested if Fleury steals another game tonight he will get serious consideration for the Conn Smythe trophy, awarded to the most-valuable player in the playoffs. But Fleury was hearing none of it.

"I don't want to talk of such things. I have to concentrate just on tonight's game," he said. But his teammate Crosby was quick to credit Fleury with keeping the Penguins alive.

"He has been playing great. He deserves all the praise he gets," said Crosby.

After Monday's sensational performance, the Penguins are hoping Fleury gets off to a hot start in Game 6. They're hoping his goaltending acrobatics got in the heads of the Red Wings, and will help pull the Penguins back to a winner-take-all Game 7 on Saturday.

Comments

I've been killing myself over this, because I would love to see the Penguins win the cup, but about Fleury, yes, after Tuesday nights game, I think he can prove himself to be a next 'Patrick Roy', but like previous contenders like Theodore and Gigeure, How long is this amazing sizzling hot streak going to stay with him. I love this goalie a lot. I even put him above Roy since the play offs started, but Fleury is known well for his inconsistency. Will tonight be his flop or his gallop to a game 7? I beleive he will be the key factor to a win tonight. And I know he will pull through. And a win tonight would. Fleury bon job et felicitations pour touts que tu accomplis a ce point! Thank you for keeping my dreams alive!

Well Jason So much for the dream. I am haooy.
