It is situation critical for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Penguins trail the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup final going into Game 5 Monday night (CBC, CBCSports.ca 8 p.m. ET). A loss, and their dreams of the Stanley Cup die.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby vows to go all to keep his team in the series. "I'm gonna try. I'm definitely gonna empty the tank. I'm not gonna save anything," he said.

"We know they (Detroit) don't wanna come back to Pittsburgh (for Game 6). They're gonna be desperate, but so are we."

While Crosby has two goals and an assist in this series, teammate Evgeni Malkin has been shut out. He has failed to score a single point after finishing second in scoring during the regular season, and scoring 19 points in his first 14 playoff games.

"The poor kid, he feels the pressure. There's no doubt right now, not much is happening for him," said Pittsburgh coach Michel Therrien.

"The only thing you can ask him is to make sure he's working hard. I never tell a player, we need one goal, two goals from you," said Therrien.

Therrien echoed Crosby's comments, vowing his team will "leave everything on the ice tonight."

As the Penguins headed to their team bus after practice, they were greeted with cheers from a small group of die-hard Penguin fans who had gathered behind the Joe Louis arena. Crosby stopped to have his picture taken with a young boy and his father.

Crosby is only 20 years old, but he knows with Malkin a non-factor in this series, his team is counting on him to keep them alive.

It's too bad that Malkin is becoming the Pens scapegoat. Heaven forbid that the fingers should point at the captain of the sinking ship.

i think they should give some credit to the boys in the trenches gary roberts ryan broken nose malone and the great penalty killong ability of jordan stall in any case the pens are great

Whoa!....I had to give my head a shake.Crosby VOWS to keep Penguins in series? Just hang on a second Squid...er Sid.Have you forgotten you're a wet behind the ears Chump who can't even grow whiskers yet? You have to go fishing before you can catch a fish. Why don't you take a step down, and get back on the earth for a spell. You have a LONG way to go before you can open your mouth, and pull a Mark Messier prediction.Hockey is no different than a job.Experience is the BEST teacher.I suggest you get a little bit more before you put your foot in your mouth and choke on a skate.Come on back to reality.Who knows, you may even learn a thing or two?

It was already decided at the start of the playoffs that the Detroit Red Wings were the champions of 2007-08 Stanley Cup finals!

Go Pens Go... If anyone can do it... it's Sid the Kid.

Johnny Wad, you have a long way to go before you can communicate coherently in the English language. Try giving your keyboard a shake, it may even provide the intelligent commentary that you cannot.

Did you even read the article Johnny Wad? No where does it say that he pulled a Messier and guarantee a win. All he said is "I'm gonna try. I'm definitely gonna empty the tank. I'm not gonna save anything." You might want to actually read the article and not just the title of it before you go and make a fool of yourself next time.

Going to be a great game, hope to see the seventh game, nice to see a Newfoundlander in the series. They are all trying there best.

Johnny Wad,
I think you should first try and get to lift
a hockey stick. Then start talking about Sidney Crosby, besides he has a career going and he's only 19. Well how long did it take for you to start out a career???????? What is it you have... JEALOUSY? Get a life man, and take Jesus in your heart, then you wouldn't have such ill feeling's against Sidney Crosby. God must be watching over you Sid... way to go keep the Penguins alive. We'll pray for you.
